Favourite travelling destination

Singapore is my favourite travelling destination. In 1963 Singapore gained independence from the United Kingdom. Many of the people who lived in Singapore went there from India, Malaysia and China in seek of labouring work to earn money. After independence was granted the process of finding a single Singaporean identity began. The country has been called a society in transition because of the fact that the people who live there do not speak the same language, share religious beliefs or even come from the same culture. English is declared to be the nation’s first language, however in a census by the government, just 80% of Singaporeans were literate in English. The diverse culture can be noticed when you walk the streets to see mosques, synagogues and churches.
The main streets in Singapore are busy, colourful and filled with the inviting aromas of street food. It is here where you can devour delicious prawn noodles or a bowl of Wee Nam Kee chicken. Food from the street vendors is bursting with local flavours and is irresistible after a long day walking through the streets and shopping in the malls.

The island is small and the population is large at 5,312,400. The large population means that things can feel rather crowded in the main streets. Pedestrians and drivers have to keep to the left to ensure a smooth travel for everyone, whether on foot or in a car.
There are not too many private cars in Singapore, however taxis flood the roads. Car prices are much higher in the country and the cost for just obtaining a Singaporean certificate of Entitlement would buy you a Porsche Boxter in America. Just one in every 10 people own cars due to the expense, many choose the cheaper alternative of traveling by bicycle, on foot, bus, train and taxis.
In the dark of night the city of Singapore lights up. The stunning skyline reflects off of the Singapore River and illuminates the sky. On the river there aren’t just straight up skyscrapers, there is even a quirky building which has curved sides and looks as though a space ship has landed on top of its roof.
Singapore is warm and wet. The tropical rainforest climate means that there are no actual defined seasons. The geographical location means that the country has high humidity and lots of rainfall, with around 92.1 inches each year. The sun shines strongest in March, with the highest recorded temperature at 36 degrees. Singaporeans dress in clothes suitable for the heat and humidity, wearing T-shirts, shorts and slippers

                Outbound training program

Outbound training program was held in Trincomalee eastern command naval base srilanka navy.It was a 1st year and 2nd year software engineering batches 2 days training camp

I couldn't participate that due to a family wedding function. But lot of friend told me that they had a good experience there. Here i attached some photos which my friends had taken.

         Table ethics and etiquette

We went to Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management colombo for this session.I was selected in 2nd group.Here i posted some table ethics and etiquettes which we had learned;

NAPKIN ETIQUETTE

Place the napkin in your lap upon seating. At informal meals, place the napkin in your lap immediately upon seating. During formal occasions, before unfolding the napkin, wait for the hostess to remove her napkin from the table and unfold it in her lap.
  1. When leaving the table temporarily, put the napkin on your chair.
  2. At the meal's end, fold your napkin and place it to the left of your place setting.

Read more table manners tips for using your napkin in the napkin etiquette section.

HANDLING UTENSILS

How do you hold a fork?
The continental style prevails at all meals, formal and informal, because it is a natural, non-disruptive way to eat.

Table manners infograph showing how to hold a fork and knife using the Continental Style

  1. Hold your fork in your left hand, tines downward.
  2. Hold your knife in your right hand, an inch or two above the plate.
  3. Extend your index finger along the top of the blade.
  4. Use your fork to spear and lift food to your mouth.

THE TABLE SETTING

Table manners infograph showing what utensil to use first and which water glass and bread plate belong to you.Deciding which knife, fork, or spoon to use is made easier by the outside-in rule – use utensils on the outside first and working your way inward. So, if you are served a salad first, use the fork set to the far left of your plate.

Your water glass is the one above the knife in your place setting and your bread plate is to the left. To remember which bread plate belongs to you and if the glass in front of you belongs to you or your neighbor, use “b” and “d”. Touch the index finger on your right hand to your right thumb. Touch the index finger on your left hand to your left thumb. The “b” formed by your left hand is for “bread” (your bread plate is always at the left of your place setting). The “d” formed by your right hand is for “drink” (your drinking glasses are always at the right of your place setting).
Our table setting section discusses in greater detail what you'll see at the table

EATING

At a small table of only two to four people, wait until everyone else has been served before starting to eat. At a formal or business meal, you should either wait until everyone is served to start or begin when the host asks you to.

ETIQUETTE

Pass to the right (if the item is not being passed to a specific person). One diner either holds the dish as the next diner takes some food, or he hands it to the person, who then serves herself. Any heavy or awkward dishes are put on the table with each pass.

BREAD PASSING ETIQUETTE

  1. If the loaf is not cut, cut a few pieces, offer them to the person to your left, and then pass the basket to your right.
  2. Do not touch the loaf with your fingers, instead use the clothe in the bread basket as a buffer to steady the bread as you slice it.
  3. Place the bread and butter on your butter plate - yours is on your left - then break off a bite sized piece of bread, put a little butter on it, and eat it.

Specially i need to thank all the staff in hotel school and sarasi madam to arrange this kind of wonderful event.
I'm totally satisfied the session which we had there so as soon as i came back to home i posted a review for them.

Latest trends in software engineering world

For this session human resources manager and a software engineer from hsenid mobile solutions visited to conduct.

First of all human resources manager introduced us the meaning of name;it's backward letters of dinesh who is the owner of this company.Later she gave us brief idea about how to face to interview properly and what the industry is looking from an undergraduate.
After her speech one of the software engineer who graduated from UCSC started the discussion.Actually it was a great discussion with us and very informative. One most important thing that i remember is he told try to be an expert in one programming language.

Latest trends in software engineering discussion titles started with IOT things;internet of things.

The Internet of things ( IoT ) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances and other itemsembedded with electronics , software , sensors, actuators , and network connectivity which enables these objects to connect and exchange data . -wikipedia-
Most important thing i remember from that discussion is he told sometimes dog may be communicate with each other in near future.

Second new trend is open source products.

Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.Open-source software may be developed in a collaborative public manner. According to scientists who studied it, open-source software is a prominent example of open collaboration. The term is often written without a hyphen as "open source software".-wikipedia-

Third new trend is machine learning

Machine learning is a field of computer science that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed.
Arthur Samuel, an American pioneer in the field of computer gaming and artificial intelligence, coined the term "Machine Learning" in 1959 while at IBM. Evolved from the study of pattern recognition and computational learning theory in artificial intelligence, machine learning explores the study and construction of algorithms that can learn from and make predictions on data– such algorithms overcome following strictly static program instructions by making data-driven predictions or decisions, through building a model from sample inputs. -wikipedia-

Specially i need to thank to Sarasi madam for arranging this kind of great technology discussion and the all people in hsenid company

   Look back about PPD

I started to learn PPD in 2016 february. At the begining i didn't understand what are the advantages of this course module but now i understand that i have already learned lot of things from this session. As i understood what we had learned from this course module helps us in our day today life.

PPD is a course module which we(Reading Bsc in software engineering university of kelaniya) are studying whole 1st year and the 2nd year.PPD is a lifelong process. It is a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential.PPD is not a normal course module it includes more activities and events which helps me to improve my

My Website

I missed the Dr Ajith Rohana Colonne's lecture because i did my project work on that day because i had only 3 more days to finish my individual project. So from this blog i am mentioning about my first web site.

We are not allow to use softwares and definitely there should be a shopping cart.I selected a website for a vehicle club.

CLUB MEETUP 2017

CLUB MEETUP 2016

In my web site, adding a car to cart is not practical. So i decided to divide my website  into three categories,

                             (1) For sale
                              (2) Parts
                                      (3) Accessories

I didn't use cart function to category "For sale" and i used cart function to "Parts" and "Accessories".Specially i need to mention few of my batch mates who supported me to do the login part and cart function.

In the sign up form new member should atleast fill the "first name" and "password" to sign up.

I used a captcha to the contact form.

REMEMBER-All the photos were taken from facebook.

I used HTML,php,CSS,Java script,Ajax and phpMyAdmin for the database

Beauty of UOK

Description

The University of Kelaniya has its origin in the historic Vidyalankara Pirivena, founded in 1875 by Ratmalane Sri Dharmaloka Thera as a centre of learning for Buddhist monks.
With the establishment of modern universities in Sri Lanka in the 1940s and 1950s, the Vidyalankara Pirivena became the Vidyalankara University in 1959, later the Vidyalankara Campus of the University of Ceylon in 1972, and, ultimately, the University of Kelaniya in 1978.

The University of Kelaniya has pioneered a number of new developments in higher education. It was one of the first universities to begin teaching science in Sinhala and the first to restructure the traditional Arts Faculty into three faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, and Commerce and Management.

It has several departments not generally found in the Sri Lankan University system and some Kelaniya innovations have been adopted subsequently by other universities. These include the Departments of Industrial Management and Microbiology in the Faculty of Science; Departments of Linguistics, Fine Arts, Modern Languages and Hindi in the Faculty of Humanities; and Mass Communication and Library and Information Sciences in the Faculty of Social Sciences..

And i will use some of the old photos, reviews, new photos and videos to express the beauty of the University Of Kelaniya

                               Expert Game

From this game we were divided into 5 teams(6 members per team). From our team we should select 3 member with their expert area and needed to tell who they are and what are their expert area. After all the team informed their expert members,Madam told us to present a business idea(Combination of those three expert areas).

Our team expert areas were
                        1)Mathematics🤓
                               2)Vehicles🚖🚗🚘
                                       3)Design🎨

We selected robo car business. For our team it was not difficult to express a business idea but for  some of the other teams their experts ideas were not matched.(eg swimming🏊,football⚽🏃,techonology💻🖲🔍📡)but during the presentation they combined that un matched  expertise area and presented a good business idea. One of the team had their future business develop ideas as well.😂😂😂

From that game i improved my🤔🤔🤔

            1)Team working
            2)Presentation skills
3)How to adjust to a suitable situation

                        Pen and Thread game

From this game we were divided into 3 teams (9 members per each team).we recieved 30cm thread, pen and a paper.📄🖋Then for the three team madam told to write three words and without touching the pen we should write. Our team's word is "VIPER".We allowed only to communicate in english.😶😶😶

Then we appointed a team leader because otherwise it was difficult to properly write. We were not allowed to touch paper or practice.we used 4 members support to top of the pen and another 4 members support to bottom of the pen.😊😊😊

                               Barter puzzel

We were divided into 5 teams and we had to appoint a leader to each team. Then all the five team leaders and one member from each group had to go front and collect a 🖼🖼🖼picture. Each team should cut✂ 10 square pieces and needed to handover those pieces to madam. Then we had to cut any shape of 66 pieces and put them into a bag. Then madam shuffled and handedover another team's 76 pieces to us and we should join them and create the picture.Actually we don't know what the picture is.So it is difficult task but we allowed to use any strategies. And there is a time to finish ⏰⏰⏰the task.

While joining pieces we understood that there are some pieces which didn't belong to our picture. So we had to discuss 🗣👥with other teams and find our parts which are in the other team.We found the photographers name in some pieces of our picture. Then we searched from google but we couldn't find the picture.

Last moment we couldn't find our some parts because we hadn't owned others parts. Finally one team informed they used the strategy as tear the pieces into more pieces. And some of our pieces were 👻👻👻stolen. From this activity i understood 🤔🤔🤔that we are not staying in a safety society and we should takecare our own things🔐.And if we tried to win an unethical way we couldn't finish our task as well.😂😂😂
